Nathalie Pham – An Island Story
January 25th, 2012 | Posted by in UncategorizedFor three seasons, it was one of the very best-beloved cartoons in the United States, an unanticipated, American-generated exhibit incorporating Asian way of life and mythology with a blended anime model. This week, "Avatar: The Very last Airbender" proceeds in comics, courtesy of Darkish Horse. The initial guide, "The Assure – Part one," is created by Gene Luen Yang with art by Gurihiru and picks up correct where the cartoon left off. Established by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, "Avatar" is set in a globe in which tribes which can every single manipulate just one of the four components — Air, H2o, Earth and Hearth — have been at war for centuries, and are now dominated by the ruthless Fireplace Nation. The Air Nomads have been hunted seemingly to extinction. But a peculiar boy observed frozen in ice turns out to be a surviving Airbender, and also this generation's Avatar — just one who can tame all four components. Aang, the Airbender and Avatar, swiftly grew to become near with his rescuers Katara, a Waterbender, and Sokka, her brother. They are inevitably joined by Toph, a feisty, blind Earthbender, and enter a often tenuous alliance with Prince Zuko, son of the ruthless Fireplace Lord Ozai. The Nickelodeon cartoon "Avatar: The Very last Airbender" concludes with Aang defeating Ozai and Zuko ascending to the throne. The Dark Horse series of digest-sized graphic novels begins right away afterwards. Comic Book Resources spoke with Yang about writing in the "Avatar" universe, building superior still obtainable stories and his plans for the collection. And check back tomorrow for extra with the cartoonist on his graphic novel "Amount Up" with artist Thien Pham..
